Welcome to the home of Ian Raisbeck Music.

Here you will find a wide variety of original compositions, arrangements and transcriptions of music for Brass / Wind groups. Most of these works were originally commissioned by Lions Youth Brass, where Ian has held the position 'Composer-in-Residence' since 2003. During this time works for Beginner Brass, Junior Brass and the Youth Brass groups have been performed at a range of concerts in the UK and abroad, at major competitions and on studio recordings.

Ian's compositions and arrangements have been requested by numerous other ensembles and bands; in 2012 Ian took the decision to publish his own pieces for the first time.

Biography

an imageIan began his playing the Cornet at an early age and quickly progressed through the brass banding culture of the North West before studying trumpet at the Royal Northern College of Music Junior School and the Birmingham Conservatoire. Ian has worked as a brass tutor with Birmingham Music Service and Music for Life Cheshire. He is currently teacher of Music & Music Technology at Sandbach School and performs regularly as a member of Foden's Band.

His interest in composition began at an early age, at the age of 16 his Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra was premiered by the RNCM Junior School Symphony Orchestra. In 2003 he was appointed 'Composer-in-Residence with the Lions Youth Brass; a partnership which has seen compositions regularly being performed by beginner, junior and youth band musicians at national competitions, on CD recordings and at concerts throughout the country.

Further compositions and arrangements have been performed by Foden's Band, Wessex Band Summer School and Armagh Brass Band Summer School and many more. In 2016 Ian arranged a brand new musical titled 'Yankee Doodle Boy' featuring the works of Irving Berlin, and in 2018 an arrangement for Wind Band of 'Olympic Fanfare & Theme' was awarded runner-up in the 'Copyright & Licensing Agency Shake-It-Up' national competition.
